313 Luz A Zul is an evolving creative world built around the idea that light can exist in more places than we first realise.
Founded by artist André Drean Lopes on March 31, 2025, 313 started with art, but it was never meant to exist only on a canvas. Painting, clothing, photography, books, objects and printed matter are all different ways of bringing the same ideas into the world and allowing them to exist beyond the person who created them.
The name Luz A Zul comes from a simple idea: light does not stop existing just because we can no longer see it. When the sun disappears from one place, it is still lighting another. At night, that same light can reach us through the moon, reflected back to us in a different form. Something that looks like darkness from one side can still be light from another.
That became the foundation of 313.
Luz is the light that is easy to recognise. Zul is the light that makes us look twice. The A between them represents the individual, standing between what we can immediately see and what we still have to discover. It can represent the artist, but it can also represent anyone.
313 is a place for these ideas to take different forms. Some things are made to be worn, some to be collected, some to be read, and some simply to exist as art. Rather than separating these things into different worlds, 313 sees them as different ways of expressing the same one.
The brand is influenced by what surrounds us: Portuguese culture, everyday life, streets, music, art, people, memories and the places we pass through. Deadstock fabrics, handmade processes, limited pieces and imperfections are part of this because they keep the work connected to the people, places and experiences behind it.
313 is not meant to have one fixed meaning. It is something that can grow, change and take on new meanings as more experiences become part of it.
Because sometimes the light is right in front of us.
And sometimes we need to look closer, pay attention, and search for the light that is easier to miss.
